Description
T Mix (T3-T4 mix) It is a combination of thyroid hormones that includes triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4), the only biologically active substances known to contain iodine. These hormones perform two fundamental functions:
- during growth, they are essential for the normal development of the body, particularly the central nervous system;
- In adults, they regulate the energy metabolism, affecting nearly all organs and tissues, the rate of energy expenditure, and heat production.
The thyroid gland maintains large reserves of thyroid hormones. These hormones are metabolized primarily in the liver, but also in target tissues such as the brain. Plasma levels of T3 and T4 are precisely regulated by the pituitary gland via the TSH, through a negative feedback mechanism. T4 is the primary hormone secreted by the thyroid and is converted into T3, the more metabolically active form, primarily in peripheral tissues.
Thyroid hormones act primarily through the intracellular receptors, by modulating gene expression and influencing numerous metabolic processes.
Purpose of use
Many patients on replacement therapy have difficulty converting the levothyroxine (T4) In the triiodothyronine (T3), even though the body needs both hormones. Possible causes include liver overload, zinc deficiency, nutritional deficiencies, or excess iodine.
Due to the limitations of T4 monotherapy, patient dissatisfaction remains high. For this reason, numerous studies have examined the benefits of combination therapy with T3 and T4. The T3-T4 mix It helps normalize T4 and TSH levels and keep T3 at least within the mid-normal range.
T Mix It is used in replacement therapy for various conditions, including:
- after thyroid resection
- radioactive iodine therapy
- thyroid cancers
- suppressive therapy
It is recommended for thehypothyroidism of any etiology, including:
- primary and secondary hypothyroidism
- diffuse or mixed euthyroid goiter
- subacute and autoimmune thyroiditis
- thyroid cancer (post-surgical)
- obesity associated with hypothyroidism
Dosage
Treatment with T Mix It usually begins with low doses, which are gradually increased to the therapeutic dose over the course of 3–4 weeks
In elderly patients or those with cardiovascular disease, doses should be reduced to minimize the risk of cardiac side effects. During pregnancy and in children, the need for thyroid hormones may increase. In some cases, the following may be prescribed: beta-blockers to improve tolerance to treatment.
How to use
Generally:
- We’ll start with 1 tablet a day
- every 5–6 days it increases by 1 tablet
- The maximum is 3 tablets a day , divided into several doses
The standard cycle lasts 5–7 weeks, followed by a pause of at least 6 weeks. This approach can help restore normal thyroid function. The T3-T4 mix is sometimes associated with the clenbuterol to enhance the fat-burning effect.
- Average dosage: 1–3 tablets a day
- Effective outline: pyramid method (1-2-3-3-2-1)
Main effects
- increase in basal metabolic rate
- increased thermogenesis
- acceleration of fat burning
- stimulation of the central nervous system
- reduced need for sleep
- improvement in physical performance
Possible side effects
- tachycardia and increased blood pressure
- agitation and nervousness
- insomnia
- Muscle tremors
- dry mouth
- excessive sweating
- sensation of warmth
Warnings
The use of T Mix (T3-T4 mix) Without adequate anabolic support, this can lead to a greater loss of muscle mass compared to other metabolic approaches.
